Mongrels completed and renamed

Monday, 03-Dec 2012 @ 8:17pm

Thanks to Bruce Williamson, after more than a year of planning and continuous, dedicated work, all of the way points on Mongrel's have been rectified as well as all the other stuff he fixed before there were way-points.  Some of the work has been featured in previous trail news.

The trail is riding really well and will probably be presented to QPWS at the same time as Pete's, which is good, because with Pete's riding well from the bottom and Mongrels riding well above Pete's, they will become a prefered route up to the top for riders looking for a quick loop out of the velodrome, or for those seeking a different and really fun ride going out or returning from long rides.

Bruce is moving on to upper Pete's trail now and plans to open a new top entrance into Pete's, directly opposite Mongrel's.  Bypassing the wiggle from Mongrel's, which goes left onto Castle Hill Fire Road, then right at the intersection onto Coolibah Fire Road and then right onto Pete's trail will remove confusion for visitors and others returning to Nerang.  Below there, a small number of way-points need attention before Pete's is joined to the new lower section across the North Street Fire Road.  The way Bruce works, he should get there about the time the final section of Pete's is made, rested and ready to open.  The man defines trail stewardship.

The other thing is that this is the last time we use the name "Mongrel's".  It has been renamed; the new name is "Brett's".
