Club Meeting, Sat 23 March.

Wednesday, 23-Jan 2013 @ 5:00pm

We need active mountain bikers in the Gold Coast region to help manage our Club affairs particularly with the increase in activities we are undertaking.

The Annual General Meeting of the Gold Coast Mountain Bike Club Inc. is to be held on Saturday, 23 March 2013 at the Nerang Velodrome Hall commencing 4:30pm. It is absolutely vital that all members (and non-members) attend this very important meeting because our Club is at a cross roads with many activities relating to Trail Care, Trail Advocacy and Event planning being or about to be undertaken!

We have a number of Committee persons who have advised they will not be seeking re-election for the future and it is imperative that members be prepared to volunteer to serve our/your Club on the Committee to ensure our continued success. All Committee positions will be declared vacant during the meeting and an election will be held to appoint persons who are nominated or volunteer to fill Committee positions. It is critical that members/persons elected to the Committee are active in mountain biking and have some administrative/management expertise. It is also desirable that the Executive Committee (Pres, Vice P, Sec & Treas) be resident on the Gold Coast.

Current Committee members (including myself) have been serving the Club for many years and it is time to refresh. If you are interested in serving the Club in any of the following positions, please PM me with your details:

President - Vice President - Secretary - XC Director – Junior Development Officer - Membership Officer - Sponsorship Officer - Events Co-ordinator.

We have been extremely active in the areas of trail care and have undertaken a Trail Care Agreement with National Parks Recreation Sport & Racing (old Parks & Wildlife) for legitimizing trails within Nerang National Park. This has been with the fantastic assistance of the MTB Trailcare group who unselfishly give up their time to ensure that trails are maintained and built to the highest of IMBA standards. We are also negotiating the legitimizing of Old Tambo Downhill trail with Gold Coast City Council which has already seen tacit approval with IMBA being engaged to conduct a trail assessment including the addition of an all mountain type trail. The Hinze Dam XC trail project is nearing completion of Stage 1 (7km of XCO standard trails) and a soft opening is very near. We have been negotiating with landowners at Illinbah and have conducted several Downhill social ride days with planning in the wings for a major event during 2013. Things are happening but it needs your support and commitment to ensure continued success so have a think about it and consider volunteering your services to help manage the Club which supports your mountain biking experiences!!

Best regards,

Harvey Power

President

Gold Coast MTB Club Inc.
