Brett's Re-Route Update

Saturday, 04-May 2013 @ 10:22pm

Since last weekend, Brett's newest section has been getting use and is looking good.  We wanted to work on a few shaping projects there today.  The top entry to the rollers, berms and the new log ride was our target today.  The old wooden log over has long-since decayed, leaving one solid log hidden, just out of site in the grass on the inside the turn; ready to catch you by the crank.

Which would really spoil your chance to enjoy this

So we altered the top corner to allow more speed and flow, removed all the rotting wood and made a new high point, shaped parts of the first dip to encourage better drainage and then made a wider, bermed line through the top corner

To encourage this

and allow better flow through this

Notice how the soil through the last bit remains dark due to residual water?  Riders are compressing the trail and bringing water back up to the surface.  This dark section will have to be armoured with embedded stones.  Once the damp section is armoured, then all the trail colour will shine through

Before we got to Brett's, we had to deliver a new trail mascot to Barney's.

See the Gallery for another shot of the newest trail mascot.  Barney's brown frog.

We are off to Clagiraba tomorrow, to check out new trail at one of the Gold Coast MTB Club ride sites.  Should be fun.

Happy trails from Ash and Louis
