Progress Of Two Kinds

Tuesday, 24-Sep 2013 @ 8:28pm

We have started to see progress on Three Hills Singltrack after a series of work days with limited metres.  Over the last two days we have completed a split descending and ascending line, started shaping an upslope bermed turn farther uptrail from this TTF and cleared and primed the ground for the next grade reversal and turn above the berm.

Here's some pics showing what happened over the last two days looking from top down.  There is still work to be done on the bermed turn including an upper entrance corral, some large stones added at the lower end (you can see one waiting to be embedded) and the lower end of the berm will be re-aligned to slightly widen the (climbing) tread as well

Our new volunteer, Elisabeth age 12, cleared lots of stones from below the trail.  Thousands of em, but more remain

The new climbing line was completed with 2 small drains

and our pile of dirt and stone has been largely used up.  The Lomandra replanted in our rock pile has a chance

We need more volunteers of any age.  You can go home happy with this sort of result

After going home briefly, Ash and I returned to the park for an on-site meeting with Ranger Mark.  We had a look at a number of sites where we recommend re-routes, plus some previous works to assess sustainability and also reviewed old trail closures for re-growth.  In the next pic we were discussing all the work done in this area and how it will never be sustainable

The result was a number of re-routes being given the green light - totalling around one kilometer.  It felt like a huge pat on the back and indicates another level of MTB acceptance in the park.

So now we need more hands to help get all this done.  Please be in touch via the Contact page
