Three Hills This Week

Sunday, 27-Oct 2013 @ 4:59pm

Ash, Doug and I made some more progress this week.  Today was a rest day, so we had a ride and that was great after a few weeks without one.

We progressed the trail up one of the steeper sections by using a multiple pass approach.  You cut what looks like the tread and then go back up to 4 or 5 more times to shave off more here and there until the final product is a solid bench that will be fun to ride.

After finding the subterrainian tunnels last week we were on the lookout and did find another system of tunnels just past our previous finish point.  This time we dug them out completely to make a larger grade reversal than originally planned.

Here's how things look after the week of work.  We started in the first part of a long drainage into a creek line.  We have been full benching across this steep sideslope

Leaving the drainage we started constructing a turn into the hill, aiming above two larger trees

Sorry about the pics in the near dark which do not really show the grade reversals

It has been too long since we added a monument, so we did

It is going to be great to ride

One of our trail workers had to be warned about overdoing it

Alas he did not take heed and in fact, sweated his lungs out.  Looks like a salt water drowning at 100m above sea level

More to come.  Have fun.
