Bottom of the barrel of rider respect

Monday, 01-Dec 2014 @ 12:51am

We got a fair bit more done this weekend, although again a lot was intensive work over short distances. Yesterday, after re-tamping all the mounds, Doug, Ash and I added some more trail above the jump in this pic

It's simple stuff - corners and gentle drains, but a sweet part of the trail it will be

We also added barriers for riders thinking of shortcutting features. It may be premature, but sadly also really important, even if every feature can be rolled over in both directions

Then today we moved down to the corner above the tree jump with the aim of improving the berm to drop feature in this corner, as well as starting work on the final line to the tree jump. Lots of dirt was excavated and transported to the lower start of the trail line where it was piled to be used when we add the Casuarina to Three Hills intersection prior to opening.

Here's how things looked before this weekend

and after, even if not finished yet. The drain looks huge and on this gently sloping area it has to be large and gentle. There is a limit to how deep a drain can be on this sort of terrain - finding that limit is key

Here's some test riding

So there's another week of work, which we are starting to really like.  However, as is far too common, we were obliged to waste more digging time on people riding past our closure signs and multiple lines of flagging tape strung across the trail line.  No, we don't want to have a chat.  No we really do not like lip when we tell you to piss off.

There is only one reason to be on this or any other trail under construction and that is to work on it.  Otherwise, just don't waste our time.  After years of pandering to the opinions of the poaching public, we have had enough.  Starting today it's photos of poachers and no friendly chit chat.  If you don't help, we don't want your opinion.  Just stay away and let us finish this trail line without aggravation.  Aggravation is the farthest thing from the intended theme of this trail line and it just is not fair that builders working for the riding public cop aggravation from those with no time to help, but plenty to poach.  NO DIG, NO RIDE (at least until open)!
