Casuarina Grove, Clean up. Saturday Febuary 2.
Today I went back into Casuarina Grove with Mark Roberts. (Thanks again for all your help Mark)
We did some adjustments to the trail work that was done yesterday and then went to the next bridge on Casuarina Grove.
Before pics of the next bridge.
We removed the build up of silt and blue-metal-stone that had been washed onto this bridge (including between each timber slat) as well as outslope the trail tread leading onto the bridge.
Rather than throw all this material away, we decided to keep it in a pile just off to the side of the trail. There was a very high blue-metal-stone content in this dirt which will make it great for trail repairs in the future.
Outsloped trail where water flow crosses the trail during heavier rainfall.
We also added in a drainage line for the slow but constant water that crosses above the outsloped section of trail.
And now some after pics of the bridge.
Like in the previous post, these are phone camera shots again, so im sorry for the lower than normal quality of these pics.
Ash.
